Virtual Work-Based Learning Program Creates Pathway to High-Paying Jobs

Considering that tech employees earn up to 85% more than those in other industries, providing students with the skills they need to obtain jobs in the industry after graduation is a great investment. And, with more than three million IT services and custom software support jobs in the United States when unemployment rates are so low, the need for tech skills has never been higher.

To help ensure that K-12 schools have the tools they need to prepare their students for the workplaces of the future, GG4L, a public benefit corporation, has launched a new career readiness initiative. One of the most powerful programs in our initiative is our virtual work-based learning (WBL) program, CSPA, that prepares students for jobs in technology and IT with hands-on experience.

What Is CSPA?

CSPA is GG4L’s turnkey virtual internship program, the Certified School Passport Administrator Program. It is free for schools and students, preparing students for jobs in enterprise software support directly after graduation. The program uses GG4L’s proprietary enterprise software, School Passport, to help students learn the ins and outs of software support, including the following skills:

  • Access control
  • Data management
  • Cybersecurity
  • Providing a range of reports to key users across the organization

The program provides students with direct experience with data integration, user authentication, organizational structure, application deployment, and reporting.

“Internships for high school students are difficult for Career and Technology Education administrators to find.  By offering the CSPA virtual internship program, schools can provide online work based learning experiences for students from any location,” explains Wallace E. Reeves, SVP, Client Operations for GG4L.

Meaningful WBL Experiences Prepare Students for the Future of Work

GG4L pioneered a new and scalable way to deliver critical skills and training to students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in an internship. This model for virtual internships will allow employers and schools to deliver these experiences to more students. Organizations can use our template to create internships for their own organizations, helping ensure that students are able to successfully transition into the world of work with the skills they need to succeed.

“As a web-based technology company, GG4L is uniquely positioned to introduce the concept of virtual internships to high school students. Today’s workforce is becoming more remote and online based.  As a result, GG4L’s CSPA virtual internship provides students with a relevant online work based learning experience.” – Wallace E. Reeves

To get started, request the GG4l Virtual Internship Playbook. Our playbook will provide a framework and guidelines for any organization that is interested in building a virtual internship.
